That state Gampola was controlled under the King of Bhuwanekabahu IV in the 13th Century AD. Since the Past time to present Ambuluwawa Tower was received a new era. At present, there are some buildings were top of the mountain. Because of that, all shapes are like the Buddhism temple. Therefore many people refer to Ambuluwawa as another temple of Sri Lanka. When talking about the past history of the Ambuluwawa Temple it is known as an evocative of a Buddhist “Stupa” with a height of 48 meters.
This historical mountain of Ambuluwawa Tower is starting to build in 1997 as well as 2002 the organization of UN selected this best-developed mountain in the world. The Ambuluwawa Biodiversity Complex was inaugurated by Sri Lanka’s former Prime Minister Dissanayake Mudiyanselage Jayarathna popular known as among all “Di Mu” who born near Gampola town. Ambuluwawa Mountain Hill

Through those researches, one of the studies was carried out in this Ambuluwawa mountain hill forest area from 23rd January to 20th February 2003 by the University of Sri Jayawardenepura, and 29 endemic species were found in the Ambuluwawa Mountain Hill. Those are,
- 13 butterfly species including 2 endemic species
- 11 mammalian species, including 1 endemic
- 59 avian species including 7 endemic species
- 13 amphibian species including 2 endemic species
Ultimately the total amount is 126 species were found. Animal species as well as 200 different kinds of plants from 80 plants familiar to some kind of medicinal plants. Ambuluwawa is surrounded by many mountains and valleys including Knuckles mountain range from the north, Pidurangala from the east, Bible Rock (Bathalegala) from the West, and Sripadaya (Adam’s Peak) from the South.
And also apart from those mountains, many other mountains are also clearly visible from the top of the Ambuluwawa Hill. These are the Hunnasgiri Mountain and mountain ranges associated with Alagalla and Kaduannawa, the Hanthana Mountain range.

The Ambuluwawa tower also one of the best tourist attractions in Sri Lanka.
